Dental treatment under general anaesthesia

In certain cases, it is better to receive dental treatment under general anaesthesia in a safe and relaxed clinical environment. Our clinics at Collombey, Pully and Bulle are all equipped to offer dental treatment under general anaesthesia!

Undergoing dental treatment under general anaesthesia is a way to provide dental care for patients in a less stressful and relaxed manner.Β

Our clinics at Collombey,Β Pully and Bulle offer the possibility of being treated with general anaesthesia to all patients within the Ardentis Group.

Dental treatment under general anaesthesia is very much adapted for young children and people suffering from dental phobia or other disabilities. The treatment proceeds in a such a way that the patient feels at ease and relaxed. All types of treatment can be undertaken from basic fillings to wisdom teeth and implants.

Dental care under general anaesthesia can be performed by all dentists including surgical specialists for wisdom teeth and implants and periodontal specialists to treat Gum disease.

Prerequisites

Who then is a suitable candidate?

  • Patients in good health (without any serious illness and having a BMI within a normal range)
  • Patients must be at least 3 years of age. Below this age limit, general anaesthesia can only be undertaken in a hospital setting.

If necessary, patients can also undergo treatment at the Hospital of Rennaz:Β

Procedure

Dental treatment under general anaesthesia is performed as an outpatient procedure. The patient is taken to the recovery room after the surgery and then taken home by a relative or family member. The duration of the dental treatment depends on the type of treatment but it is rare for a procedure to last more than 5 hours.

Insurance

It is important to check with your health insurance if you suffer from an illness preventing you from receiving conventional treatment. Some supplementary insurances may cover some of the treatment, but it is still better to check with your health insurance first.

Practitioner

It is also important to make an appointment with the right practitioner depending on the treatment required not forgetting to take into account your age and general health.

Costs

The resulting costs will vary and are invoiced in accordance with the duration of the dental treatment. One hour of anaesthesia costs 1,000 CHF and four hours would cost 3,000 CHF. As the whole procedure is carried out in one go, fees need to be paid in full and in advance (both for the general anaesthesia + dental treatment).

If you or a loved one would like to benefit from the opportunity to undergo dental work under general anaesthesia, please contact either one of the clinics in Pully, Collombey or Bulle who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.Β
