Numerous clinical studies have shown favorable long term results for both submerged two-stage and non submerged implants. The objective of this artible is to describe the surgical and prosthestical aspects of the non-submerged ITI dental implant system. A single step procedure offers an obvious gain in comfort for the patient by its less traumatic technique and by avoiding the second stage surgery. Moreover, a juxta or slighlty submucosal position of the implant shoulder facilitates prosthetic rehabilitation and simplifies subsequent oral hygiene measures which may be a benefit for long term maintenance. These advantages, amid others, result in a simplified and diminished treatment period with a predictably high success rate.
